So I am finally here and I truly cannot believe it. The area is beautiful and the kids very, very friendly. They instantly grab your hand and would walk to the moon with you if you let them. And white people are truly a phenomenon here. Constantly you here the words "mazoongu, mazoongu" as you walk the streets, which means "white people, white people." It is a little awkward at first but one gets use to it after awhile. Our living conditions are great and are much better than we expected. We get beds!! And they are not just skimpy twin beds either, but full beds! Unbelievable. The view from our compound looks right out on the valley and a range of mountains, and beautiful waterfalls are but 15 minutes away. It is a gorgeous place and I can't wait to show you pictures of it.
As far as ministry looks we will be setting up women's and children's bible studies and will be preaching a whole lot. In January we will begin traveling to the bush churches in Kenya and Tanzania and we will also lead any teams that will come here. During those times we will be doing medical work, dramas, preaching, art, a lot of singing and dancing, and anything else that looks like needs to be done. Pastor Moses will help us a lot as far as the church work goes and will teach a whole lot more with the culture and area. The headmaster Charles will be working with us as we teach the teachers and student's English and is a major help also in showing us about Busia.
It is very rural here and you will see it when I post pictures. Even the large cities one must call rural. Kenya is but 1/3 of a mile away from where we are but due to visa problems we will not be able to go over until January. I really can't wait until we can go over for they say going and setting up bush churches is a lot of fun and adventure. In Tanzania it is like walking through a live safari!
We are currently living in the school area as our home is under construction and will be living with the Uganda 2 team throughout are stay here. That is a true blessing as we love all those people dearly. I can not wait to take and post some photos and hopefully I will get that done by next week. Please keep us all in your prayers (including uganda 2) because it is very hard here and there is no way of getting around that. Pray for grace as we walk this road and minister to these people. Pray for times of refreshing even as we walk and work thoughout the village. Pray for discernment and wisdom as speak and talk to these people. Pray for divine protection. Also pray that we get conditioned to the area quickly for it is really hot here and the sun intense. It drains you quickly and doesn't make one feel 100% exactly. We need all of your prayers desperately especially in times where are we feel so spiritually and physically dry and drained. Love all of you dearly and thank you so much for those who I know have been continually covering us in prayer.
