We have now established our new ministry out of Mbita, Kenya and it is absolutely gorgeous! We are living at an old YWAM base working with Paul and his wife Erin and they are awesome. We have loved getting to know them and are so blessed to build relationships with them and the staff here at SEEK. Mbita is about 2 hours outside of Kisuma and is surrounded by Lake Victoria. The mountains are gorgeous and I can't even begin to describe the beauty that is here. Our cabin is set in the midst of a forest and monkeys are constantly seen as we walk to breakfast or are simply cooking in the kitchen. They are everywhere from hanging in the trees to sitting at the picnic tables. The lakeside shore is only a minute walk down from our cabin and it is my favorite spot to have my quiet time as I gaze out on the lake and watch the fishermen at work with the mountains behind them and the majestic bald eagle fly across the surface. It is a paradise and literally has felt as if we have had walked into a land of milk and honey. Don't get me wrong, the battle in the spirit is just as present here as in Uganda, but it has been a breathe of fresh being surrounded by such beauty.
The staff is amazing here and we will be working with them often while we are here from teaching at the schools environmental awareness as well us girls hosting girl talk sessions and the boys will be doing with the same with the boys in the school. Also we will will be visiting the churches in the area every Sunday; the orphanage; hospital visits; and beach ministry for the children, youth, and widows. Mostly, however, we will be traveling, stayin in Mbita only one week to every 2 weeks that we travel. Most of the time we will be traveling to old YWAM bases and will stay in each place a week before traveling back to rest up in Mbita. It all sounds very cool and I think we are all excited by the prospect of seeing a lot of Kenya and Mbita is a pretty sweet spot to rest up in, a beautiful resort in my opinion.
I will try to post some pictures, however it is really expensive to do here so I can't promise anything. Continue to pray for unity and protection for our team. We don't want to give the enemy a foothold anywhere and feel the need for us to be very sensitive in our spirits to what is going on in the spirit that we may stay guarded. Also continue to pray for health as a few of us are coming down with colds, and although a minor thing it slows down ministry and can get those that are sick in a rutt. Blessings!
